It only makes sense that Dan Goldwater, the co-founder of Instructables, would have a ride that lights up the crowd. While at MIT Media Lab, Goldwater holed himself up for four days and used standard bike parts, a single flat sheet of clear polycarbonate plastic and 200 LEDs to make his JCycle nightrider. The design was dreamed up by MacArthur Fellow and Goldwater's Squid Labs partner Saul Griffith, while the materials were scored from Goldwater's numerous DIY clubs, as well as campus trash cans. "MIT has the richest dumpsters in the world," jokes Goldwater.
