The Door to Hell


This place is located in a small town in Uzbekistan and is called by locals “The Door to Hell”.
The story goes like this: One day, a group of geologists were drilling in search for gas, suddenly, they found an underground cavern, and it was so huge and deep, that all the geologists’ equipment and drilling site went deep under the ground. As no one dared to go down there since this cavern was so full of gas, they decided to ignite it to prevent poisonous gas to escape the hole, it’s been burning for 35 years now, and ever since, this hole has been burning without any pause, nobody knows the amount of gas that has been burned during these years, but… one thing is for sure, it looks as though this hole has endless gas down there! This sure is one of the most mysterious places in the world!

Mysterious Holes of Russia


This is another place which is one of the most mysterious places in the world. People has been finding strange holes in Russian forests, this strange phenomena has been occurring since the end of the 1980s. This strange phenomenon consists of strange and deep holes that appear suddenly in the dense forests, in those places that no truck or car can get to, let alone drill anything. If these holes are being digged, there is no soil around these holes that indicate that they have been drilled. People who have gone down these holes haven’t found anything, and there is no answer on how or why are these holes being used for.

The mouth of Hell


In 1962, a small fire in a city of Pennsylvania called Centralia caught up with an exposed vein of anthracite coal located underground. The flames on the surface were extinguished, but the coal under the town continued to burn for many years, and in 1984 the fire forced people who lived there to evacuate the city. Currently, this town is an abandoned and deserted place, and the fire which is still burning beneath the town, has enough coal to feed it for other 250 years more. This is not only one of the most mysterious places in the world, but it also looks pretty scary too, don’t you agree?

Hill of Crosses in Lithuania


This place isn’t a cemetery, even though it has more than 50,000 crosses. The story behind this is that each person who puts his own cross in this mountain would become a lucky person; this is the reason why there are thousands of customized crosses here. It is said that this tradition started before Christianity came to Russia and Lithuania and it is believed to be of pagan origin. In addition to being one of the most mysterious places in the world, it is also a very strange one too.

The ghost town buried in the sand


In southern Namibia there is this ghost town called Kolmanskop. It all started in 1908 when a diamond fever developed in the Namib Desert and people established a whole city with a school, a hospital, a casino, and residential buildings, all of this with the illusion of making an easy fortune. What happen? That after the First World War, when the diamond sales dropped during the 1950’s, the town became deserted, and the dunes of the Desert reclaimed what has always belonged to it, and the whole city was buried under the sand…thus, the “Ghost town” had been born.
