Typically, ambient marketing campaigns are unexpected and unconventional, potentially interactive, and consumers are targeted in unexpected places.

This ambient advertisement campaign was launched by Oldtimer restaurants, a leading Austrian chain of motorway rest stops. The campaign aims at enticing people to take a halt at the restaurant to which provides almost everything that one can eat link

Casino Di Venezia have turned a traditional and boring luggage claim belt into a giant roulette wheel at Venice Marco Polo Airport. According to the Venetian Casino, visits increased by 60% since the eye catching ad appeared at the airport. link

When coming up with an ad campaign for FedEx Kinko’s, the innovative minds at advertising agency BBDO were inspired by the streets of New York. The agency installed oversized bottles of correction fluid, highlighters, and, in one case, an office lamp, on the city’s busy thoroughfares for a couple of days earlier this year. link

This is a massive floor sticker in an Indonesian shopping centre. When it’s viewed from above it makes people look surprisingly like fleas on the dog. link

This Nikon billboard in a Seoul subway station features life like paparazzi that appear to be jostling for the best celebrity snap. The celebrities are the passers by who trigger flashing camera lights as they walk on the red carpet. No, New York is not underwater (yet, anyhow) – that’s a clever ad for HSBC by Ogilvy & Mather Mumbai ad agency in India. The bank wanted to raise awareness of the dangers of global warming, so the clever ad guys glued an aerial photo of a city’s skyscrapers to the base of a swimming pool … the effect of a submerged cityscape is fantastic!Source
Pizza Crop-Circle


If you’re flying in or out of Denver International Airport, look out the window and you’ll see a pizza cut into a wheat field near West 128th Avenue and Pena Boulevard. The crop circle, designed by artist Stan Herd, is a promotional vehicle for Papa John’s Pizza.
The pizza crop circle stands at about the size of six football fields.

As part of a national campaign promoting McDonald’s restaurants, a downtown Vancouver lamppost [6th Avenue at Cambie Street] became part of an optical illusion, appearing to pour coffee into a giant cup on the sidewalk.The post was wrapped in brown vinyl to resemble poured coffee, while an oversized carafe was attached to the end.Source

To launch the new MINI, with its large array of updated features, among them more powerful Bi-Xenon headlights, a MINI was mounted on the side of a wall. Then 2500 watt lights were placed on top of the billboard which up to the lowers levels of the stratosphere. Source
